First sprouts from our indoor garden

Our Indoor Garden – Growing Cress
On Monday 12th March we started our indoor garden. We began by growing Common Cress. Come back regularly to see photos of our progress.
Save Our Small Schools (SOSS) March in Castlebar
On Saturday February 25th the Drummin National School Community marched, together with representatives of other school communities from throughout Connaught, from the Mall in Castlebar to the Constituency offices of An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, to hand in a letter of protest and petitions against the changes in resourcing of small rural schools.
Cross Construction with cubes

GH used unifix cubes to make a cross with the figure of Jesus.
Spring Daffodils Still-life

For visual art today we drew and then painted still-life pictures of a bunch of daffodils. We also watched an Animoto video of other daffodil paintings with the Daffodils poem by William Wordsworth playing in the background.

Parent’s Association Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Parent’s Association will be held in the school on Monday next, 6th February at 8.00pm. Every family is encouraged to be represented at this meeting and to contribute to the school community at this time.
Floating & Sinking
Today we estimated whether each of 18 different day-to-day things would sink or float. Then we tested our hypotheses as a group. We were surprised at some of the results. And then we discovered that by changing something about the item we could sometimes change the result
